SIHH 2012 – Richard Mille RM 050 Felipe Massa Tourbillon Rattrapante Chronograph

 

Richard Mille designed and launched RM 050 Felipe Massa Tourbillon Rattrapante Chronograph for SIHH 2012. The new designed RMCC1 manual winding tourbillon movement has the hours, minutes, rattrapante second chronograph, power reserve and torque functions. This is a new masterpiece of Richard Mille Designer Watch series.

The classic RM 008 Tourbillon Rattrapante Chronograph is the first dual-seconds chronograph stopwatch of twenty-first century. It has made great contribution for watch industry in the past years. The launch of RM 050 Felipe Massa Tourbillon Rattrapante Chronograph marks a new movement of R & D results. This new watch not only retain all the fine features of the RM 008, but also better that the original in functions.

Designers make simple modification on the basis of RM008 to launch the RM 050 China watch. Richard Mille’s engineers reduce the movement of the weight by 20%, equivalent to 10 grams and making the movement of the total weight of only 9.5 grams.

The baseboard and plywood of movement use five level titanium alloys, containing 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. This alloys is often used in aviation, aerospace and automotive industries. It is not only corrosion resistant but also extremely sturdy. Due to its sturdy and lightweight characteristics, this titanium alloys has become the ideal choice to ensure perfect operation of the gear train in the production of the RM 050 movement baseboard. The skeletonized baseboard and brand-new design of plywood means re-production of more than 400 pieces mechanical component. The fast rotating barrel, variable inertia balance wheel, function display, torque display and improved rattrapante are only a small part of this extraordinary movement. Engineers make the greatest degree of optimization on the movement, especially in timing accuracy and long-term reliability. A masterpiece chronograph was born.

Perfect movement must be equipped with a sophisticated case.
